Welcome The Tico Times, the first Central American news org added to the News Media Tumblrs directory! It’s an English-language newspaper based in San José, Costa Rica.
I’m considering adding inactive news org Tumblrs to the directory, but marking them a different color on the map. What do you think? Or is it better to just leave them all out?

The U.S./Canada map is filling out quite nicely!

Removed links: I’ve removed some links to Tumblrs that haven’t been updated in a month or whose summer intern left without announcing a replacement or whatever. I’ve also cleared out some others that didn’t belong in the directory but had been left over from a larger list of organizations on Tumblr (I’m still finding those, yes).
Cool project: A site I’m not adding in the directory is What’s your 9/11?, a project by the Voice of America (submitted by jrstahl). I think it’s a little too narrowly focused for the directory. But it’s worth mentioning here, especially given this upcoming anniversary.

Removed links: Rolling Stone. Nothing against Rolling Stone! But the link was left over from a bigger list I was compiling of print publications. That list was really unfocused, though. If you’re interested in making a topics-based directory, let me know. I don’t have a ton of time, but I’m willing to share what I know (it’s helpful if you know Google fusion tables, HTML, CSS, and a little bit of JavaScript).
Politics: Some of you submitted links to Politico and DC Decoder, as well as other political Tumblrs. After some thought, I’ve decided not to include them. This could change in the future, but I feel like those would work better in some kind of U.S. Politics directory, which I don’t plan on making (again, get in touch if you are).
Inactive Tumblrs: Some of you submitted links for inactive/parked news accounts — I won’t be adding those.
Other Tumblrs: I ran out of time but I’ll take a look at some of the other links this week.
